Relax & Enjoy!

OPE’s Sixth-Grade Student Parliament organized a fun, inclusive, and engaging way to celebrate the beginnings of Spring. Last Friday, they hosted the “Leap Into Spring” Dance, where sixth-grade students gathered to dance, have snacks, and share some laughs over hot cocoa. Students also played board games, created a colorful mural, and made some special friendship bracelets, all with the poppin' tunes being dished out by DJ Principal Ticer as she took to the turntables. Students were engaged and had an absolute ball as they enthusiastically lept (and danced) into Spring!

Ms. Linda Meanus from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, joined Otto Petersen’s 4th and 5th grade students. Ms. Linda is an educator; she travels across the American West and shares her deep knowledge of traditional Indian foods at events with various groups, from visiting elementary schools to engagements at the National Indian Child Welfare Association. This week at OPE, she shared her knowledge and delivered a chapter reading of her book.

Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) has been going strong again this season! They learn what it means to work hard and build relationships. OBOB is a statewide reading motivation and comprehension program sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries.

Sending a huge thank you to all OBOB coaches and school moderators at OPE for your time and energy in supporting these students and this exciting program!

Ms. Larson's room recently transformed into a magical campground, where students embarked on an unforgettable adventure during our "Campout" event. Complete with a cozy tent, personalized name tags, the aroma of s'mores, and captivating campfire stories, igniting excitement and fostering a love for reading among our students.
